About Tali Friedland, LCSW, PMH-C
You don’t have to carry this all on your own.
I’m a Chicago-based therapist who specializes in the identity shifts of motherhood, perinatal and postpartum challenges, perinatal grief and loss, and women’s well-being.
HOW I WORK
We will create a space where you feel seen and deeply understood.
At the core of our work together, we will utilize openness and curiosity, acceptance and compassion to move towards healing. The insights that you unearth in our work together will move you from a place of feeling stuck to one of dynamic self-awareness. As you begin to develop a greater understanding of yourself - and all the parts and identities that exist within you - you will likely also begin to feel more grounded and better equipped to move through life’s transformations.
My belief is that self-compassion and self-acceptance are crucial components to developing the insights that will lead you to the life you envision. Our work will be collaborative, and depending on what we discover, we’ll bring in a variety of tools and methods to guide you towards your goals.
We’ll examine and honor your history and all of your inner parts when you are in the process of becoming - and/or evolving - as a mother. We’ll uncover insights that develop self-understanding, increase confidence in decision making, and lead to a more harmonious existence of motherhood with all your various identities.
We’ll use cognitive strategies to address specific thoughts holding you back; mindfulness techniques will anchor you and redirect you to the here-and-now; body work has the power to release you from stored grief and trauma.
When you are in the depths of a transformation, we will examine patterns, hopes and dreams to reconnect you to your core values and offer a path forward.
And when grief is present, we will honor your emotions and value your connections to your loss. As you tell your story, we will create space for continuing bonds to evolve, creating an integrated narrative, and paving the way for life to continue meaningfully.
I value the importance of healing at your own pace. There are no timelines here. In fact, I hope you come to feel that the space we create together is one you can always return to, and that the gift of ever-evolving insight can be lifelong.
